violet dawn wiki

Violet Dawn WikiWe announced awhile ago that we were making Violet Dawn a free Campaign Setting via a new Wiki website. Today, we are releasing the first iteration of the Violet Dawn Wiki through Obsidian Portal. We looked at many different software applications, but found that the best by far was Obsidian Portal. If you are a GM or doing world building, check it out.

Why do a Wiki?

A lot of our fans were disappointed by our lack of support for 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons and our decision to solely support 4th Edition. This is our way of making Avadnu available to those people and also to gamers who may have never heard of Violet Dawn before. If you play Savage Worlds, Pathfinder, GURPs, d20, or any other system, it doesn't matter. There will be something that you can use from our wiki site.

SInce Violet Dawn is now a free setting does that mean you are done releasing books?

Far from it. We have finally gotten into a groove and have started releasing PDFs in our Races of Violet Dawn product line for 4e. Once all of the races are released, they will be collected into a single book and released as a traditional RPG supplement. A free module entitled Keeper of Secrets is near on the horizon as well as the 5th Anniversary of Denizens of Avadnu... We have a lot in store, don't worry.

Do you have any plans on releasing the wiki content in book format?

Well, we have been tossing around the idea of a pure Campaign Setting book with no stats or mechanics like Pirate's Guide to Freeport for quite some time. Who knows?

Any plans of rules conversions from the wiki for specific systems?

We will continue to have 4th Edition support through our own Violet Dawn product line. Paizo is about to release the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Book which is awfully tempting, but we are not committing to anything right now. We'll provide more info as things develop.

How often will the wiki be updated?

We'll do this piece by piece over the coming months. The Violet Dawn Wiki is honestly a tad sparse at the moment, but we have a ton of stuff to add. The wiki has its own RSS feed that you can subscribe to which will keep you up to date.

I hope you enjoy our wiki. Drop us a line on our forums or email us and let us know what you think.
